The Separation Process
From coffee tocompost
From aluminium toanything
Nespresso Australia is committed to ensuring we arepart of a sustainable coffee economy. However, we face a challenge in that our products cannot be recycled through Australia’s domestic waste systems. That is why, since 2010, we have implemented a recycling program specifically for all our customers, and have worked with a recycling plant in Southern NSW to put in place a dedicated system to recycle our used aluminium capsules.
Our commitment is to continually improve ourrecycling program to help ensure that as many used Nespresso capsules (both Professional and in-home) are recycled as possible.
We are focusing on:
- Continuing to remove barriers to recycling by developing more options and easier accessibility for our customers.
- Collaborating with credible partners through a Recycling Working Group, to help inform our initiatives. Founding members include Paul Klymenko, CEO of Planet Ark, and climate change thought leader Nick Rowley.
- Education and awareness, keeping our customers informed about the recyclability of our capsules and the recycling options we provide to them.
- Encouraging behaviour change, so that recycling our aluminium capsules becomes a habit.
