Recycled coffee grounds equivalent to 12 cups of coffee (espressos) from Nespresso's recycling program (processed in the leather, outsole and insole)

Brown leather: The upper of the "leather" is made from a mix of coffee grounds (15%) and water-based PU (35%), which is applied and sewn onto a cotton backing (50%).
Upper: Plant-based material made from pesticide-free grains: 73% Bio PU + 27% recycled polyester (including 50% corn)
Laces: Recycled rPET
Removable insole: Coffee grounds (10%) and recycled cork (90%) Outsole: Coffee grounds (10%) and recycled rubber (90%)

Since Zèta was founded in 2020, its goal has always been the same: to offer recycled and vegan sneakers.

Zèta is dedicated to making sustainable sneakers. Instead of using petroleum-derived materials like polyester or drawing on already limited natural resources, Zèta only chooses high-quality recycled materials.

The sneaker made from Nespresso coffee

Two years ago, Zèta took on the challenge of turning the shoe industry upside down by turning coffee grounds into a sneaker.

The result of a year of research is RE:GROUNDan innovative sneaker: made from 80% recycled and recovered materials, in which Nespresso coffee grounds are not only incorporated into the vegan leather, but also into the outsole and insole. This sneaker is handmade in a Portuguese family workshop, bringing innovation and sustainability together.

RE:GROUND is available in limited quantities via this website and comes in three colours: Latte, Cappuccino and Ristretto.
