ECOM Agroindustrial Corporation
ECOM is one of the world's largest traders of coffee, cotton and cocoa, with headquarters in Switzerland and national operations in 20 countries.
In 2007, Nespresso joined the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the leading coffee trader, ECOM and the Rainforest Alliance in a major public private partnership across three countries in Central America: Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico. The partners came together to focus on one aim: to strengthen the value chain for the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Coffee Program in those countries and to help nearly 6,000 farmers create a better future for themselves and for their families.
The main objective of the project is to increase profits (shared value) of coffee producers by improving their social and environmental standards for higher prices, while reducing their expenses and enhancing their productivity.
