The Positive Cup, which is our ultimate vision, is to deliver each cup of coffee
that creates more positive impact to our environmental resources and
communities.

At Nespresso, Sustainability is our way of doing business and is at the heart of
everything we do. By creating a sustainable coffee economy, we embed our
best practice sustainability principles throughout our value chain, from the
coffee cherry to the cup.

Our aim is to create more value for farmers, business partners and consumers, whilst at the same time caring for the environment.

How Does Nespresso Ensure
Sustainably Sourced Coffee?

100% SUSTAINABLY SOURCED COFFEE

Our ultimate vision is to sustainably source coffee through the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program.

We aim to enlarge the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program within
Ethiopia, Kenya, in South Sudan in a massive scale and we will materialize a
positive impact of the program by investing 15 million CHF in these countries
over the next six years.

We will assist farmers in achieving high certification standards in areas
including water management, biodiversity and fair worker treatment in
collaboration with our long-term partners, Rainforest Alliance(since 2003)
and Fairtrade International. Additionally, we are actively pursuing innovative
solutions that increase farmer welfare standards through the Nespresso AAA
Farmer Future Program in Colombia, spreading further the positive impact
seen to date.

100% SUSTAINABLY MANAGED ALUMINIUM

100% SUSTAINABLY MANAGED ALUMINIUM

We at Nespresso are increasing our capabilities to collect used aluminum
capsules and to make sure the used ones to be recycled 100% wherever
Nespresso operates.

Further to this, each time it makes environmental sense, we recycle used
Nespresso capsules collected by the company, reusing them as new capsules.

Another key part of this vision is for 100% of our virgin aluminum capsules to
be produced with material compliant with the new Aluminum Stewardship
Initiative (ASI) standard, currently being developed within a multi-stakehold-
er program led by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

How will Nespresso Contribute to
Global Action on Climate Change?

100% CARBON “INSETTING”

Agroforestry, on which Nespresso is providing the skills and technology
to farmers, is a combination of agriculture and forestry contributes to cultivating
high-quality coffee long-term by increasing farm climate resilience.

Nespresso uses agroforestry to inset our carbon footprint. To respond to
climate change, we aim to reduce the carbon footprint of each cup of
Nespresso by 28% against 2009 levels by 2020.

In addition, Nespresso announced that it will inset operational carbon
footprint by 100% and increase coffee farmers’ resilience to climate change
by planting 5million trees.

Aluminum Capsule for
the Best Coffee Experience

Nespresso delivers the best coffee experience through Freshness Capture Science – a method that
perfectly preserves the freshness and aroma of coffee.

Aluminum is the best material to preserve the freshness and aroma of coffee, completely protecting
oxygen, light, and humidity, which can really affect taste and can be infinitely recyclable.

We make green moments

To achieve sustainability of good coffee, Nespresso Korea continues to launch
‘We make green moments’ campaign with Korea Green Foundation, Korea’s first environmental NGO.

We launched the campaign to plant 10,000 trees in Noeul Park, Sangam-dong, Seoul in 2019 working
together with environmental experts. The campaign will be continuously carried on to reduce
carbon emissions and mitigate climate change in 2020 by planting trees.

Please, join in Nespresso Green Moment Challenge and verify your participation in our recycling program on your Nespresso Instagram or Facebook account. In collaboration with a Swiss brand,Caran d'Ache, pens, made of recycled Nespresso's Master Origin India capsules are provided to members who join our movement (limited quantity available), and working together with a Swedish lifestyle bike brand Velosophy, a good company that contributes to materializing social values, recycling bicycles that are made of 300 recycled Arpeggio capsules are provided to members who join our movement (limited quantity available).

Anyone can join our recycling campaign.

Fill our recycling bags with used Nespresso coffee capsules and request for them to be collected at no cost when making your order via the Club or online or drop them off at one of our Boutiques. Nespresso offers services to deliver recycling bags at no cost to all customers who order our coffee products to enable more customers to join our recycling program in May and June. Feel free to request for more Nespresso recycling bags.

Report on ‘We Make Green Moments’
Activities for the Year 2019

Nespresso Korea conducted ‘We make green moments’ campaign in full scale, working together with
Korea Green Foundation, Korea’s long-standing public interest foundation that is specialized in
environment, part of our concerted efforts to ensure sustainability of good coffees.

Planting 10,000 trees in Noeul
Park, Seoul

In partnership with environmental experts, Nespresso Korea planted
10,000 trees in Noeul Park, Sangam-dong, Seoul, offsetting 5 tons of
carbon emissions to mitigate climate change.

This is equivalent to the amount of carbon emissions generated by a
person riding a passenger car 24/7 for about two years.

Nespresso Korea conducted ‘We make green moments’ campaign in full scale, working together with

#Nespresso Green Moment

Nespresso conducted the ‘Nespresso Green Moment Challenge’,
a recycling program to encourage club members to participate in
recycling, through our brand social channels, Instagram and Facebook
for two months from May to June. We asked participants to make a
resolution saying, “I will always take part in Nespresso’s efforts in coffee
capsule recycling” and join the campaign together with Hashtag
#Nespresso Green Moment and over 1,000 club members participated
in that campaign.

B2B Green Moment Awards

Nespresso Korea hosted the 'Green Moment Awards' to present
trophies made of recycled aluminum to member companies that
participated most frequently in the recycling program during a period
from May 3 to December 31, 2019, and approximately 1,034 member
companies participated during that time in this program.
