Congratulations on the purchase of your Nespresso Creatista Uno Machine! You are minutes away from being able to enjoy cafe quality coffee in your own home, but before we do that, there’s a few important things we need to cover off first.

Chapter 1: Unboxing & Assembly

To start off, you’ll notice a sticker on your machine’s drip tray which will show a serial number. We’ll come back to this a bit later but in the meantime, keep it safe inside your manual.

In your box you will find your stunning new Nespresso Creatista Uno, Milk jug, Drip tray and water tank.

And a selection of brochures which give you information on how to use the machine, your warranty and more detailed information on the coffee range.

You also have a box of Nespresso capsules which include a variety of intensities and flavour profiles. Now, these coffees set you up to explore our range and discover your favourites! To get things started, you simply need to connect your machine to power - and then we’re ready to set the machine up for first use.

Chapter 2: First Use- Priming Your Machine

The most important part of setting up your machine for the first time is priming. This ensures there are no air pockets so you can get the smoothest coffee extraction. To do this, we need to run water through the machine - so let’s get started. Turn the machine on by pressing any of the cup buttons. The buttons will flash while the machine heats up, for approximately 3 seconds. Fill the water tank, place on the lid, take your empty milk jug and place it under the spout. Press the Lungo button to run water through the machine. The machine will stop automatically when priming has finished

Now discard the water from the jug and the drip tray. Your Nespresso Creatista Uno is now ready to use.

Chapter 3: Coffee & Cup Selection

Now onto our coffee selection! You are as unique as your coffee preference and Nespresso has an incredible selection of quality coffees to suit every taste. But there are, of course, some handy tips to help you find your favourites. When selecting your coffee, two things you need to consider are Espresso or Lungo capsules and the intensity rating. In this tasting box, you will find a range of various intensities. You’ll also see here an intensity rating out of 13. Now, this rating is the intensity of the roast, and not the amount of caffeine. The more intense the roast, the bolder and richer your coffee will taste. Included are both espresso and lungo sizes which can be determined by this icon here. An espresso size is a 40ml extraction which is perfect for coffees with milk, whereas the lungo is a 110ml extraction and an ideal size for long black drinkers. Finally, you might notice Nespresso capsules are aluminium and this is for good reason. Not only is aluminium infinitely recyclable but it protects the quality of your coffee.

Chapter 4: Mastering Your First Coffee at Home

Now your machine is clean and ready to go, let’s make our first coffee, an Aussie favourite, the flat white. I’ve selected the Ristretto capsule. Now, this is a strong coffee with an intense roast, which will pair so well with milk. This blend also happens to be one of my favourites, so we’ll start with this one together, but for your next coffee, you’re in control! Refill your tank with water and put it back into position. Replace the drip tray and pull out the cup tray. Select the right cup for your coffee - now, in this case, we’re using a 180ml glass from the View collection to give us enough room for the 40ml espresso and the milk.

With the Creatista Uno, coffee extraction happens first and then milk preparation. To prepare your milk, you’ll need to take your milk jug, and pour in fresh cold milk to the required level here. Place your glass on the cup tray. Open your machine by lifting the lever completely, put in your capsule and close the lever. You can adjust the milk temperature and froth level by pressing these buttons. Today, we’re making a flat white, and your machine is preset and ready to go.

To begin, all you need to do is tap the middle cup button for a 40mL extraction. Your coffee will be ready when the lights stop flashing. Place the milk jug under the steam wand and make sure it’s on the sensor as the machine will perfectly heat and froth the milk to your selected coffee preference. Press the steam button to start your milk. When the lights stop flashing, your milk is ready. Remove the milk jug and wipe the steam wand immediately with a clean, damp cloth, then put it back into position to commence the auto-rinse. Lift and close the machine lever to eject the capsule - this is an important step to ensure the capsule doesn’t sit in your machine once it has been used. And remember, all Nespresso capsules are recyclable through our 19,000 recycling points around Australia.

Once you have your extraction and your milk is ready, you want to move pretty quickly - as a barista would, we take the espresso in the cup and turn it like this, and then immediately pour the milk into your cup. Enjoy - you have just mastered your first cafe quality coffee at home!
