The coffee grounds are used as natural fertilizer for the Lavaux vineyards.
It's amazing that my favourite everyday coffee also helps my vineyard to grow. The coffee grounds extracted from Nespresso capsules are an excellent natural energy source. In a compost centre near Lausanne (in the Vaud region), the coffee grounds are transformed into high-quality fertilizer, which nourishes the soil of my vineyard in Lavaux and protects it against erosion. As soon as you bring your capsules to a collection point or use the Recycling at Home service, you are helping a Nespresso Grand Cru to become another Grand Cru.

• After being separate from aluminum in Moudon, the coffee ground from Nespresso capsules is then processed in a compost center in the region of Lausanne (VD).
• Coffee ground also contributes to the creation of electric power or energy of heating by the pyrolysis process.
• A kilo of coffee provides 3 to 5 times more energy than a kilo of wood.
