At Nespresso, sustainability and quality are inseparable. Every cup we craft is more than an exceptional taste - it’s also about creating a meaningful impact where coffee begins: at origin.
As part of Brand South Africa’s SA INC series, which shines a light on purpose-driven businesses making a difference in communities, we are proud to share the story of our work in Kenya - a story of resilience, partnerships, and a shared vision for a sustainable coffee future.

Coffee as Livelihood, Heritage, and Hope
For many of Kenya’s smallholder farmers, coffee is not just a crop. It is a way of life, a generational heritage, and a source of hope for their children’s future.
Through the AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program, we journeyed to the heart of Kenya to meet the farmers behind every cup, people who grow coffee with passion, resilience, and a vision for tomorrow.

The Power of Partnerships
Lasting change often begins with knowledge. In partnership with TechnoServe, the AAA Program provides farmers in Kenya with hands-on training and agronomy support - practical skills they can put into action on their farms immediately.
From regenerative techniques that protect soil health and conserve water, to smart methods that reduce reliance on costly inputs, these solutions are transforming farms and futures. Farmers are improving yields, protecting biodiversity, and gaining the confidence to safeguard their land for generations to come, all while continuing to produce coffee of exceptional quality.

Regenerative Practices for a Resilient Future
As climate change increasingly impacts coffee-growing regions, regenerative agriculture has become the cornerstone of our AAA Program.
By embracing techniques like shade management, composting, and intercropping, farmers are not only restoring soil health but creating thriving ecosystems. These practices ensure that coffee can continue to be cultivated for years to come - supporting both people and planet.
For farmers, the results are tangible: stronger trees, healthier harvests, and better-quality coffee. This means more stable incomes, less dependence on expensive inputs, and new opportunities to invest in their families and communities.
One farmer told us: “Before AAA, I spent too much on fertilizer and still had low yields. Now, I use less, my soil is healthier, and my coffee harvest has improved. It has changed how I provide for my family.”
Driving Gender Inclusivity
Sustainability isn’t only environmental - it’s also social.
In Kenya, women play a vital role across the coffee value chain, yet too often face barriers to training, leadership, and financial independence. Through the AAA Program and TechnoServe’s initiatives, women farmers are gaining equal access to resources, skills, and opportunities.
This not only strengthens households and communities but also builds a more resilient and inclusive coffee sector.

A Cup That Carries Stories
Through our collaboration with Brand SA, we’re proud to share the voices of Kenyan farmers who embody resilience, innovation, and inclusivity.
Every cup of Nespresso carries more than rich aroma and taste - it carries the story of a farmer investing in their land, supporting their family, and building a stronger community.
By shining a spotlight on these stories, we hope to inspire greater awareness of the collective effort it takes to protect the future of coffee, and to create meaningful impact for farmers, their families, and the environment.

Because when farmers thrive, coffee thrives. And when coffee thrives, so does our shared future.
