Capsules
A paper capsule contains roasted and ground coffee and is designed to be compostable at home. We do not recommend placing the paper capsule in the landfill or incineration. If there is no possibility to compost the paper capsule, we recommend that you buy aluminum capsules and recycle them. If you are a resident of Attica, you can discard the paper capsules in the brown bins.

The outer packaging of the paper capsules can be disposed of in the recycling bins (blue bins).

The capsule won't be composted, neither recycled.

Aluminum capsules follow the recycling journey while paper ones are for home composting and for this reason they cannot be placed together. If there is no possibility to compost the paper capsule, we recommend that you buy aluminum capsules and recycle them. If you are a resident of Attica, you can discard the paper capsules in the brown bins.

For your convenience, we will collect the capsules but we do not recommend that you deliver them to us as they are for home composting. To help the composting process, we recommend making sure your compost is a good mix of green and brown waste, has enough moisture, and that you mix your compost at least three times a year. When the mixture is brown and crumbly, the compost is ready to use. Be mindful that composting results vary depending on many factors, including the climate, and in colder weather the process will take longer. There are several options of materials in the market methods of home composting, including:

- Composting in your garden in a: 1) dedicated outdoor compost bin 2) outdoor compost heap 3) composting pile
- A vermicomposter that is designed for small-scale indoor or outdoor composting of household organic waste. It is an easy and compact way to revalorize wastes and create high quality compost and liquid fertiliser.

Composting is a natural process, and the results will vary on many factors, such as the climate where you live, the mixture of waste you put into the compost bin, and how well-managed the compost is. We recommend using a good mix of green and brown waste, ensuring there is adequate moisture in the compost bin, and turning the compost mix at least three times a year. If you are concerned that your Nespresso capsules are not composting, we recommend adding more organic waste to your compost mixture and turning the mixture more frequently. Be aware that the composting process takes much longer during winter months when outside temperatures are lower.
