GETTING TOGETHER WITH YOUR COLLEAGUES FOR A CUP OF COFFEE IS OFTEN A SPECIAL PART OF THE DAY THAT BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER. Antoinette, Denis, Nathalie, Nicolas, Sandrine… Five of them are sitting around a triangular coffee table, their lungo americano, espresso and ristretto in hand. Their opinion is unanimous: “It’s really easy for all of us to pick our favourite coffee on our Nespresso Momento’s touchscreen. The extraction is always perfect and the different varieties let us sample a wide range of flavours”. With the sofa, armchairs, and the cactus that frames a photo of a languid hacienda, you could almost be in Silicon Valley in Palo Alto. But we are most definitely in Belgium, with the team who created, amongst other things, La Terrasse O2 in Brussels, a pop-up concept which, for two months every year, serves as a venue for after work drinks, brunch, organic markets, exhibitions, and more besides... Denis Van Praet is proud of his work: “We founded Simply Better in 2002, and we were the pioneers of this kind of seasonal pop-up. 17 years later, the agency now employs ten people. We organise bespoke B to B events for ten to 1500 people, into which we can build anything you need: brand activation, scenography and décor, content creation, keynote speakers, external speakers, strategic support, video content, production of fixtures, and team building… the list goes on”. The atmosphere within the team is sunny, with scattered outbreaks of laughter and a clear bond between members. The Nespresso Momento plays a key role in this. “It provides an aspect of sociability that can’t be overstated”, Denis Van Praet highlights. And this is largely due to its ease of use and ergonomic design. Indeed, its automatic capsule insertion and ejection system and digital touch screen display make it easy to select one of four cup lengths — ristretto, espresso, lungo and americano — as well as various other options. The team really appreciates how much time this saves.

Coffee contributes to general well-being
“Our work means that we are always on the go and need to be ready to react at any time. Our Nespresso moment is a special time when we can reconnect with our colleagues and talk about something other than work.” It is also an opportunity to take your time over a smooth cup of coffee with a thick, creamy crema. The result of the perfect extraction made possible by a machine equipped with high pressure technology (19 bar) and built-in capsule recognition software. For Denis Van Praet, enjoying coffee as it should be made, “contributes to the general well-being that I see as essential in the workplace. Or in any case, that’s our philosophy.” At Simply Better, the Nespresso Momento machine was chosen for more than its compact size, which comes with one or two extraction heads. In the words of the team, “We chose a Nespresso machine for the quality of its coffee and its ease of use, as well as seeing it as the environmentallyfriendly option”. The machine is designed to use as little energy as possible, making it the perfect match for the agency’s commitment to sustainability.

30 to 40 coffees every day, and all capsules are recycled
For proof, look no further than the recycling bag next to the Nespresso Momento machine. “The environmental impact of our events is very important to us, so it’s logical that we changed our behaviours to match this. We drink 30-40 coffees every day, and we recycle the capsules. We wouldn’t have gone with a coffee brand that failed to guarantee a transparent recycling chain.” Today, Simply Better is expanding the La Terrasse O2 concept to take the franchise to other countries. The winning formula that brightens up the Belgian capital every year from May to July has had to be postponed due to coronavirus, but it will doubtless be all the more relevant in the future, in a world that will always be in need of human contact and solidarity... and of course a good coffee to get us together.
