Nespresso May Coffee Letter
Warm sunshine, a cool breeze, streets turning green. Whether it’s a picnic in the park or just a quiet moment on a bench outside, May feels like the perfect time to get out and enjoy the day. Where will you go today?
Tasting tip to enjoy coffee of the month
Enjoy a coffee processed with wet processing which minimizes the influence of the fruit, allowing you to savor the natural woody notes of the beans. You can enjoy it deeply and richly as a black coffee or add ginger ale for a refreshing twist.
COFFEE STORY
by 박수진 Nespresso coffee bard
Q1. The main theme of the May Coffee Letter is picnic. Is there a moment that comes to your mind when you think of picnic?
I take a walk with my dog at a nearby park every weekend. When we’re both feeling a bit thirsty after a walk, a cup of coffee hits just right. Among Nespresso’s coffees, the ones I’d like to talk about are Indonesia and Mexico - they pair especially well with picnic. They remind me of lush forests or sunny beaches under a blazing sun. How about going for a picnic nearby with a refreshing iced americano made with Indonesia and Mexico before the hot summer begins?
Q2. What makes this coffee special to you?
While I enjoy all types of coffee now but there was a time when I only drank bold and intense ones. Indonesia was my go-to back then. It’s a coffee with a rich body and smooth texture from wet hulling, combined with the aroma of well-dried tobacco leaves - it really makes a bold impression. It’s quite different from the Aged Sumatra (which I still hope to be relaunched someday ??) but just as captivating. Once you discover the unique character behind Indonesia’s intensity, you might find yourself reaching for it again and again like I did.
Q3. Who would you recommend this coffee to?
I recommend these coffees to those who love nature - forest and park lovers especially! A sip of Indonesia evokes the feeling of dense greenery. Even in your usual surroundings, it can feel like you’re enjoying coffee in the origin itself. Try packing some sandwiches or kimbap and enjoy a picnic with Indonesia.
Q4. Do you have a special twist when enjoying this coffee?
Try Mexico as an iced cube latte! Extract two capsules of Mexico in ice & latte mode then stir in four sticks of brown sugar until fully dissolved. Pour the mixture into an ice tray and freeze. Later, just add 8 cubes to a large travel mug, pour in 200ml of milk and that’s it! Even as the ice melts, you can enjoy a consistently delicious latte.
