Jean-François Piege Thoumieux / Paris

Quite Simply

Since its opening in the very chic and diplomatic 7th arrondissement, all of Paris rushes to Thoumieux (the brasserie and the eponymous restaurant). If the Michelin starred Jean-François Piège practices his art in the fancier districts, he is also a very popular figure, as member of the Top Chef jury, a French television program. The connoisseurs are aware that he used to be part of the Alain Ducasse team at the Plaza Athénée. Jean-François Piège skillfully ties the knot between traditional or even popular cooking and high gastronomy. His deceptively simple recipe for sardine crackers (see his book Le Poisson à ma façon Fish my way) is the perfect appetizer to enjoy with pre-dinner drinks and easily accessible to any beginner cook. His Gâteaux Thoumieux, however, is another story and will enchant your taste buds. The Parisian rue Saint Dominique is definitively home to Jean-François Piège. His pastry shop is a dashing blend of powder pink and delicate celadon green, where classic and personal creations cohabit, such as his Travel cakes, a tribute to his beloved French regions, his story, and memories… Because for Jean-François, a meal is a sensory experience that expands beyond the plate's borders and has a unique goal: feed the pleasure of memory. The experience carries on with as an instant cooking at his new address, open since last December, also in the 7th arrondissement and entirely thought out with his wife Elodie: Clover, a hint to the couple's good luck plant. Let's bet that it will bring them success!
