FLORAL & WILD
Sustainable practices enables local farmers to deliver a rich espresso with a wild character that carries both hard-to-find sandalwood notes and elegant florals.
ORIGIN
The Rwenzori Mountains - mountains of the moon - stretch for 120km along the western Uganda. The glaciers and snow-capped peaks provide steady water sources to complement the abundant rainfall that nourishes the fertile soils. High above the 1200m mark grows a rare, almost forgotten coffee. Its unique terroir is complemented by the shade and nutrients provided by banana trees, creating a true Arabica dreamland. However, years of neglect and isolation were clear in the cup. It was only with the sustained attention on strengthening this coffee community that we finally were able to reap its results.
ROASTING
This single-origin coffee is roasted utilizing the split-roast technique: The first split is roasted to a dark degree to enhance body, complexity and to balance with the wild notes that come from the natural (dry) process. The second split is roasted more lightly, reaching a medium-dark degree that allows us to explore the tropical fruit Aromatic profile.

Reviving Origins
Nespresso delivers training in agricultural practices that helps transforming the smallholder´s coffee culture, unlocking higher quality and value. With the building of community coffee nurseries, seeds are sown for the renewal of the Rwenzori´s ageing Arabica trees.
