Responsible sourcing
The objectives of Nespresso's AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program are to offer you exceptional coffee while encouraging fair and sustainable farming. But nothing would be possible without the know-how of the 100,000 coffee growers who, day after day, take the greatest care of the coffee plants.
Nespresso &
Fairtrade
Nespresso works hand in hand with many partners, including the Rainforest Alliance and Fairtrade to promote sustainable coffee cultivation. Everyone benefits from this: the producers who, while protecting the environment, see their social and economic conditions improve and can guarantee coffee quality in a sustainable way; and you, as you get to enjoy your favourite coffee every day.
A Swiss brand
Invented in Switzerland, and firmly implanted there, Nespresso actively contributes to the Swiss economy.

Nespresso,
a Swiss
brand
Since the company was created in 1986, Nespresso's history has been closely linked to Switzerland. From roasting to packaging, all the Nespresso coffee capsules sold worldwide are produced in Switzerland. Know-how, knowledge, innovation, reliability...all of these conditions ensure the production of the highest-quality coffees.
Developing
the local economy
For Nespresso, it's a source of pride to be able to contribute to the economy of the country where it was founded. Nespresso employs more than 2,000 people in Switzerland, divided between its Swiss head office, its international headquarters, its three production plants, its 23 boutiques and its customer service centre.
Recycling
Nothing is lost, everything is transformed – so goes the saying. And this is true of your coffee capsules too. Once the coffee has been prepared and the used capsules are sent for recycling, their aluminium and coffee grounds are repurposed.

Our commitment
to recycling
As early as 1991, Nespresso set up its own recycling system. And now, uniquely in Switzerland, there are three different ways that you can return your used capsules for recycling: at one of our 2,700 public collection points, at all Nespresso boutiques and partner stores, or from the comfort of your own home with the free "Recycling at Home" collection service.

of your coffee
capsules?
A pocket knife, a ballpoint pen or even a designer lamp – did you know that your Nespresso capsule could be reborn in so many different forms? And it's not only the aluminium that can be recycled. The coffee grounds also contain great potential and, when transformed into biogas and natural fertilizer, can generate heat and fertilise the soil.
Recycling
at home
Launched in 2012, the free "Recycling at Home" service was developed in partnership with the Swiss Post. No need to leave your home, your used capsules are collected directly from your house by your postman on their regular route. Companies also benefit from a free collection service.
Climate
Climate is everyone's business. Nespresso understands this and is committed to reducing its carbon footprint throughout all of its activities.

Climate protection
Nespresso has been implementing climate protection initiatives since 2003, a policy that is paying off. Between 2009 and 2013, the carbon footprint of each cup of coffee was reduced by 20%. We're working to reduce it by a further 10% in Switzerland by 2020.
