Please follow these instructions to descale your machine:
NOTE: The lactic acid solution can damage surfaces (such as granite countertops). We recommend placing something protective underneath the machine to avoid getting the solution on your countertop. If you should spill in the process of descaling, make sure to wipe up the solution and clean the surface right away.
-With the machine plugged in, eject any used capsules and empty the capsule container and drip tray and return them to the machine.
-Fill the water tank with one package of descaling solution and about 17 ounces of water.
-Turn the machine on by pressing the button once and waiting for a steady light.
-Close the machine head and leave the lever in the unlocked position.
-Hold the button down until the light goes out and then starts blinking quickly. Release once the blinking starts. This takes approximately 7 seconds.
-Lock the lever, then unlock. Press and hold the button again until the blinking light goes out and then starts blinking quickly (this step needs to be performed within 45 seconds).
-Lock the machine and place an empty receptacle under the coffee spout.
-Push the button once to start the descaling process.
-The solution will dispense in starts and stops for approximately 20 minutes. The button will continuously blink throughout the whole process.
-Once the solution has finished running through, wait for the machine to stop making noise, discard the solution and place the empty receptacle back under the coffee spout.
-Empty and rinse the drip tray and water tank, then fill the water tank 2/3 full with fresh water and return to the machine.
-Press the button to start the rinsing process. The machine will stop when finished. Wait for the machine to stop making noise.
-Discard the rinsing water once complete.
-To exit descaling mode, press and hold the button until the light becomes steady (approximately 7 seconds).
-Empty and rinse the drip tray and water tank and return them to the machine.
-Allow the machine to rest for 10 minutes before using it.
