A Menu of Nespresso-Inspired Recipes

Nespresso partners with acclaimed chef, Phil Howard, to develop a menu of Nespresso-inspired recipes

To celebrate the launch of the exclusive new flagship London Boutique on Regent Street, Nespresso have partnered with two-Michelin-starred chef and coffee-lover, Phil Howard, to create a series of recipes inspired by quality Grands Crus.   

With the UK’s increased interest in quality coffee, and desire to learn more about its relationship with food, the sweet and savoury recipes either incorporate coffee from the Nespresso Grand Cru range or are created to be served with a freshly-made espresso or lungo coffee.

As well as a menu of recipes, Phil Howard, acclaimed Head Chef and Co-owner of The Square in Mayfair, has penned his top tips, educating food-lovers on how to create restaurant-quality dishes with coffee from the comfort of their own kitchens.

“I’ve always thought of coffee as a fascinating ingredient” says Howard.  “I love drinking it and my background in Microbiology has made me very curious about how to match it with other foods.  The common misconception is that coffee only works in sweet dishes like Tiramisu, but actually, it can be a fantastic, versatile element in sauces, marinades, stocks and even crusts, bringing out the strong flavours of the other ingredients in each dish.  Through experimenting during my recipe development, I was surprised to discover that you can pair coffee with shellfish, as you’ll see in my recipe for Roast Langoustines with Miso, Coffee, Grilled Pineapple and Szechuan Pepper.

“I’m a big fan of Nespresso – I’ve had a machine at home for many years and am pleased to be able to serve their high quality and well-sourced coffee to my guests at The Square too.  I had a lot of fun working with each of the sixteen Grand Crus and experimenting to discover with which ingredients and flavours work best with each quality blend.  I hope to even be able to include one of the recipes on my menu in the coming months.”
