Christophe Boussemart

Project Manager of Sustainable Development

BY CREATING 100% RECYCLABLE CAPSULES, CHRISTOPHE IS STEALING SOME OF GEORGE CLOONEY'S THUNDER.

Christophe is the Project Manager of Sustainable Development at NESPRESSO. He is part of the group of experts recommending that aluminium is an ideal material for preserving the freshness of an exceptional coffee's aromas and avoiding their oxidation. In addition, aluminium can always be recycled, which contributes to the preservation of natural resources. So, with the intention of reusing used capsules, we are regularly developing our collection points.

After studying Mechanical Engineering at the EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), Christophe Boussemart first put his school skills into practice by developing driverless metros and roller coasters.

In October 2001, he joined Nespresso’s Research and Development department, where he was in charge of creating innovative coffee machines. There, he worked along with designers to highlight the aesthetics of mechanical concepts.

Parallely, Christophe found more and more interest in environmental protection. “How can we reduce our environmental impact?”, he share this problematic with the group direction.

Convinced by his precursory ideas, Nespresso promptly charged him with the task of recycling aluminium and developing capsules retrieval system.

From that moment, Christophe left the Research & Development department to enter the International Marketing Department (Sustainable Development specialty) where he’s been working for 2 years, conciliating both personal and professional convictions.

His one and only goal : reducing Nespresso’s environmental footprint.
