Ultimate Tennis at the Swiss Indoors ATP World Tour 500
Nespresso and the event
Nespresso is proud to be the Official Coffee of this year's Swiss Indoors ATP World Tour 500. From October 31st through November 8th, the eyes of the tennis world will be focused on the St. Jakobshalle sports complex in Basel, Switzerland, as the greatest tennis players in the world face off in this "ultimate" indoor tennis event, the third largest on the pro tennis circuit.
Founded in 1970, this tournament has hosted the likes of Pete Sampras, Jim Courier, Boris Becker, John McEnroe, Stefan Edberg, Yannick Noah, Ivan Lendl and Björn Borg. But this year, for the 40th edition, the excitement in Basel has reached fever pitch, as Swiss tennis fans hail the return of conquering hero Roger Federer. Winner of 15 Grand Slam singles titles, more than any other player in history, Federer is currently ranked “World Number 1” by the Association of Tennis Professionals. Federer will attempt to defend that ranking in Basel against Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro and Chili’s Fernando González, among many others. (Federer was born in Binningen but that’s close enough to Basel to make him the home-town favourite.)
The 70,000 spectators following the tournament live in Switzerland can complement their tennis experience with the ultimate coffee experience, in the three Nespresso Bars in the St. Jakobshalle complex. The Nespresso Grands Crus will also be served in the Tennis Village, in the players lounge, as well as in the press centre and restaurants.
“We’re very proud to be associated with one of the world's most prestigious tennis tournaments," said Nespresso. “And we’re happy to welcome Roger Federer back to his hometown!”
