Nespresso brings its coffee expertise to Bocuse d'Or Europe 2014

Nespresso meets high gastronomy

The Bocuse d’Or is the premier feature on any Michelin chef’s calendar – a brief moment in the year where judges rather than customers focus on the perfection of their cuisine. For Nespresso, the opportunity to be part of this event is a natural extension of its work with high gastronomy based on a mutual inspiration, a focus on quality as a premium experience, and a focus on innovation as a driving force. The involvement of Nespresso in an event which celebrates and promotes excellence is central to its own coffee expertise philosophy and thus it is once again heavily involved as one of the main sponsor of the Bocuse d’Or Europe 2014.

This year, as Official Coffee for the fourth competition running, Nespresso will have no less than 30 of its B2B machines on site, and will serve more than 15,000 Grands Crus during the event. Nespresso has been the Official Coffee of the Bocuse d’Or events since 2008. Bocuse d’Or is the biennial, world chef championship, named after the French chef Paul Bocuse.

In parallel of the Bocuse d’Or Europe 2014 Nespresso is delighted to dedicate 7 days showcasing and sharing its coffee expertise in a unique and ephemeral setting in the center of Stockholm through the Nespresso Chef Academy and L’Atelier Nespresso.

For the first time, the Nespresso Chef Academy will travel to Stockholm, Sweden, bringing together 12 leading chefs in celebration of the five year anniversary of its Coffee Expertise programs. The Nespresso Chef Academy in Stockholm will host prestigious guests and will be animated by Guiseppe Vaccarini, Best Sommelier of the world 1978.

The Nespresso Chef Academy is part of the greater Nespresso Coffee Expertise program which aims to share its expertise throughout the entire coffee value chain inviting chefs and sommeliers to meet Nespresso coffee experts and share their common quest for quality and excellence in taste.

The courses, hosted four times a year, consist of classes and workshops demonstrating all the subtlety of the Nespresso Grands Crus. Every facet of coffee is studied, in the same way that an oenological academy teaches about wine and its organoleptic properties, in order to identify its potential to be paired with food, wine and liquors. Coffee is thus allowed to assume its true place in the kitchen, that of an ingredient with infinite possibilities. The Coffee Expertise programs enable these culinary experts to use coffee as an ingredient and to create the perfect pairing of coffee with food, wine and liquors. They create extraordinary sensory journeys for their guests. After five years of Coffee Expertise programs, Nespresso now counts around 300 sommeliers and chefs as alumni around the world.

This unique location will also host the return of the much-loved Atelier Nespresso. The AtelierNespresso will be structured around 4 coffee moments, from breakfast to dinner through lunch and afternoon café gourmand. Nespresso will offer unique moments to experience and taste its Grands Crus.
