The "Trophee Chopard" Party
The Chopard Trophy, awarded each year to two young actors during the Cannes Film Festival, is one of the world’s most important showcases for emerging cinema talent. This year, the two trophies went to American actor Omar Metwally, who first appeared on the big screen earlier this year in Gavin Hood’s Rendition; and Chinese actress Tang Wei, seen last year in Ang Lee’s Lust, Caution.They were officially awarded their trophies by Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele and Gilles Jacob, President of the Cannes Film Festival, in the lounges of the Carlton Hotel, under the patronage of a great film director, Spike Lee, and a wonderful actress, Gwyneth Paltrow. They extended their warmest congratulations and encouragement to the laureates before accompanying them to the Zéphir room for an exceptional evening.The gala dinner folloiwng the ceremony took place in the Carlton’s Zéphir lounge and featured a private concert by Andy Garcia & his band. Among the more than 600 guests were Adrian Brody, Eva Herzigova, Gregorio Marsiaj, Salma Hayek, Kristin Scott-Thomas, Faye Dunaway, Dita von Teese, Judith Godrèche, Edward Norton, Billy Zane, Vahina Giocante and Harvey Weinstein. Nespresso has been proud to join Chopard at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. Nespresso’s 12 Grands Crus coffees were available at the Chopard Gala Dinner as well as in all the Chopard VIP areas during the festival.
