Since 1991, when we started putting our own capsule collection systems in place in Switzerland, Nespresso has been developing collection schemes tailored to the recycling process and logistics of different markets. As well as increasing our capacity to collect used capsules, we are also supporting the implementation of new technology solutions that make capsule collection as easy as possible for our Club Members,. For instance, in France, where small-size packaging cannot always be processed in packaging sorting centres, we have been testing an electromagnetic system that separates small-scale aluminium packaging (such as capsules, pet food containers and bottle tops) from other waste, allowing the capsules to be recycled.
