Tool for the Assessment of Sustainable Quality (TASQ™): TASQ was developed to allow the integration of the principles of sustainability as reflected in the farm assessment criteria of Rainforest Alliance and the quality management principles of Nespresso. The tool has been developed to serve both as an assessment tool for farms and wet mills against the sustainability and quality criteria but also to provide an “enabling framework” to move farmers forwards in the performance of their farms.
VerTech™ Network: A sustainable technology Research and Development project set up by Nespresso to design the green machines of the future. The network includes an internal Nespresso R&D team, machine suppliers, product and machine designers and sustainability experts.
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE): The European Community directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment. The directive imposes the responsibility for the disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) on the manufacturers of such equipment. Those companies should establish an infrastructure for collecting WEEE, in such a way that "Users of electrical and electronic equipment from private households should have the possibility of returning WEEE at least free of charge". Also, the companies are compelled to use the collected waste in an ecological-friendly manner, either by ecological disposal or by reuse/refurbishment of the collected WEEE.
World Health Organisation (WHO): WHO is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.
