The BAREC Group is part of one of the largest recycling groups in Switzerland. Active at regional, national and international levels. The BAREC Group focuses on recycling non ferrous metals (as aluminium), scrap iron, and waste paper.
Nespresso and the BAREC Group offer more than 2600 used capsule collection and recycling points in Switzerland. The collected capsules are sent to two recovery companies near Lausanne and Geneva, which shred the capsules and separate the aluminium from the coffee grounds. The recovered aluminium is sold for re-melting. The coffee grounds are mixed with organic matter to produce compost.
In Switzerland, over three-quarters of Nespresso Club members have a collection point within a 2 km radius of their home.
