Protecting the water quality of coffee farming communities has become an important area of focus for Nespresso.
As part of the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program, we invest in new water treatment systems on farms and train farmers on preserving their water resources. For example, together with the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia (FNC), we have invested in a joint project in Cauca and Narino, Colombia, to upgrade thousands of installations, including around 10,000 sun driers, 5,000 fermentation tanks and 8,000 water treatment units. And since water treatment is an important part of the Rainforest Alliance certification process, by helping coffee farmers prepare for certification, we are helping to ensure they adopt solid water preservation practices, too.
