Creating sustainable coffee

Having started to buy coffees from a particular region producing highest quality coffee we then set out to help the farmers towards the cultivation of AAA SUSTAINABLE QUALITY™ coffee. They are introduced to the principles of AAA through the Tool for Assessment of Sustainable Quality (TASQ™). This process familiarises farmers with the requirements at farm level for the production of coffee with the AAA denomination, initially through a unique, practical self assessment guidebook.

After this we work with a team of agronomists in close collaboration with the Rainforest Alliance to set up workshops for the farmers and train them in AAA farm practices. Then the farms are assessed by agronomists and this assessment process is independently verified by the non government organisation, the Rainforest Alliance. This assessment culminates in an individual farm management plan for each farm setting out how the farms will progress towards AAA practices.
